House Bill 458 has been signed into law, making it a requirement that Ohioans show state-issued identification when they go to vote. Types of IDs include an Ohio driver's license, state ID card, U.S. passport, or military card. Previously you may have been able to vote if you show your utility bill or other city paperwork, but the recent passage of the bill has eliminated that option altogether.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week people can sign up for Christmas toy and food assistance. You must bring your driver's license or state identification for adults and social security cards for everyone or guardian papers. You will also need proof of income and a recent utility bill. The important thing is to get signed up if you need help.

Extended deadlines at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles due to the pandemic will soon run out, making this week crucial for those that have not renewed important documents. An estimated 320,000 Ohioans have yet to update their vehicle registration or driver's license since the extensions were put in place. This Thursday, July 1st is the last day to renew your driving information before the possibility of being fined. Charles Norman, the Registrar of Ohio's Motor Vehicles, urges the public not to wait, as lines could become overwhelming at your local BMV.

Bradley Pepple was indicted by the Allen County Grand Jury for failing to stop after an accident, driving under suspension, and three other misdemeanors. He was not indicted on any manslaughter charges. OSHP believes Pepple hit and killed 18-year old Chance Edwards with his pick-up truck on Aug. 28. A witness says they saw Edwards and a man arguing on North Dixie Highway. She walked off into the road and that’s when she was hit. Pepple turned himself into the police two weeks later.

Car crashes are the leading cause of deaths for teens, but a new bill could help in reducing those numbers in Ohio.

The Ohio House Transportation and Public Safety Committee passed the “Young Driver Protection Bill”, which would change the requirements for teens to get their drivers license.  Under the proposed bill, teen drivers would have their learner’s permits for a year before they can get their license and require newly licensed drivers to ride with adults at night starting at 10 o’clock, instead of midnight which is the current law.
