Old Man Winter is getting ready to unleash his fury on Ohio as dangerously cold temperatures combine with high winds and snow. With high winds into the weekend, power outages could become a reality which poses a danger with the bitter temperatures. Our Nathan Kitchens spoke with Allen County's EMA director on how we should prepare.

The Allen County Emergency Management Agency has issued an alert to urge people to take action to reduce “ozone” emissions. Curtail driving, mowing, and even barbecuing until the evening hours. This will help maintain the levels of Ozone that the Environmental Protection Agency enforces. Keeping those levels in check not only helps with health conditions but also keeps us from specific mandates for our vehicles.

Tuesday, commissioners gave the go-ahead for the county Emergency Management Agency to order additional ‘Automated External Defibrillators’ better known as AEDs. The county currently has 13 located in buildings that they own and will be getting 28 additional to have located in common areas and offices. The hope is to never have to use them but if needed they are readily accessible and in plain sight.

Following the handling of a possible explosive device in east Lima, tonight we're hearing from someone who witnessed the whole thing unfold. An employee at "WISE Hearing Solutions" saw police arrive at Bob Evans around 8:15 Monday morning. It was only when the bomb squad showed up that Karen Brown knew something serious was going on. She had never seen the bomb squad let alone seen a robot put in use to defuse the situation. When the Emergency Management Agency asked people to step back further and evacuate more businesses, she became concerned.

A call came in about 8:30 Monday morning that there was a suspicious package at Bob Evans on Harding Highway. The Allen County Bomb Squad and Emergency Management Agency were able to survey the package found under a bench on the East side of the building. Traffic on Harding Highway between Interstate-75 and State Route 117 was shut down for close to an hour and a half during the situation.
