With Christmas quickly approaching, the Lima Salvation Army is working to sort and prepare thousands of donated toys for families in need ahead of its annual holiday distribution.
A Fort Wayne nonprofit is back in Lima this weekend to give away clothes to families in need.
“A lot of them have needs, just like our clients do,” said Greg Sowinski, communications coordinator for Allen County Children Services. “So just because they're not a client of the agency does not mean that they don't face some of the similar issues that our clients face, especially with financial means being limited.”
Lima-Allen County Family Promise is the only shelter in the area that keeps families together during homelessness.
