The Lima Fire Department is one small step closer to building a new fire station. Back in October, Lima Fire Chief, Jack McDermitt, told Your Hometown Stations that a study is being conducted by the Ohio Fire Chief's Association. That study will determine what the new fire station will look like. Also back in October, Lima City Council passed legislation to create a capital fund project for the fire station construction. On Monday night, councilors voted to transfer money to the project fund marking a little bit of progress of making the new fire station a reality.
The City of Lima has taken the first steps to building the Lima Fire Department a new home. On Monday night at Lima City Council, councilors unanimously passed legislation to establish a capital project fund for the eventual construction of the new fire station for the Lima Fire Department. While the project is still in the very early stages, Lima Fire Chief, Jack McDermitt tells us that a study is being conducted by the Ohio Fire Chief's Association. Chief McDermitt says once the study is complete, that will determine what the new station will look like, something he says is much needed.
Columbus grove community members and leaders gathered Monday afternoon to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new fire station.
Allen County Public Health and local Fire stations teamed up in order to distribute COVID-19 test kits to the public. A limited supply of the kits were available, being distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis on Wednesday.
