
On Monday night at Lima City Council, councilors unanimously passed legislation to establish a capital project fund for the eventual construction of the new fire station for the Lima Fire Department.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima has taken the first steps to building the Lima Fire Department a new home.

In other business, Lima City Council passed a resolution honoring the 25th anniversary of the city's sister city partnership with Harima-cho, Japan.
On Monday night at Lima City Council, councilors unanimously passed legislation to establish a capital project fund for the eventual construction of the new fire station for the Lima Fire Department. While the project is still in the very early stages, Lima Fire Chief, Jack McDermitt tells us that a study is being conducted by the Ohio Fire Chief's Association. Chief McDermitt says once the study is complete, that will determine what the new station will look like, something he says is much needed.

Lima City Council also passed various legislation allocating CDBG and HOME funds to city organizations.
"Our newest station was built in 1975. It's not conducive to how we want to operate right now. We have 3 females there, and we have them in a locker room that was designed for 1 female. Our bedroom is our classroom. Our bays were designed to be drive throughs. We have trucks pointing out at every door we have, so everybody is backing in. We're just... we're busting at the seams," says Chief Jack McDermitt, Lima Fire Department.
In other business, Lima City Council passed a resolution honoring the 25th anniversary of the city's sister city partnership with Harima-cho, Japan. The Harima-cho delegation group attended Monday night's council meeting for the resolution and gifted the City of Lima with artwork.
