The West Ohio Food Bank is making some changes to its senior food box distribution and wants to get the word out. The pick-up day for seniors to get their box of food remains the 3rd Tuesday of the month but will now be only an hour long. The commodities can be picked up from 9 am to 10 am starting in November. The boxes can contain canned vegetables, powdered potatoes, beef stew, noodles, milk, cereal, cheese, and more. The program is critical for hundreds of seniors in the region.

The Agriculture and Fine Arts Building was full of activity today at the Allen County Fair. Open Class competitions were going on in a variety of events. There was the Tablescapes, where competitors set a dinner table with a specific theme. Just beside them was the "Your Favorite Lunch Casserole" cook-off, with the cooks' choice of casserole up for judging on their presentation and flavor. And just around the corner, it was the "Wine Challenge," where bottles of homemade wine were judged on taste, quality, looks, and originality.

July 10, 2024, Press Release from The Meeting Place on Market: Lima, Ohio - Christmas in July has become an annual tradition at The Meeting Place on Market. They transform the cafe into Santa’s Workshop and offer holiday favorite drinks and desserts such as peppermint mochas and kids' candy cane cocoas. Multiple partners for the community have joined the coffee shop in offering a fun day of activities for all ages. The schedule for the Christmas in July event on Friday, July 26th, is 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

This Fun and Fabulous Show is Conceived and Directed by Michael Bouson and Joe Correll with Choreography by Danielle Siefker.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are an essential component to meet the nutritional and food security needs of children, and the Lima City Schools are helping to meet those needs this summer. The school, in partnership with the Children's Hunger Alliance, is passing out produce boxes to families that have signed up for the service. Each Thursday, during the school's free Summer Lunch Program, a box of fresh fruits and vegetables makes its way home with the families.
