LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - Lima Senior’s DECA student helped people wake up Saturday morning with a great cup of coffee.
The students offered free samples for three custom blends of coffee that they are selling for their 4th annual fundraiser with Vibe Coffeehouse and Café. The DECA program helps the students learn a variety of skills, including leadership, civic consciousness, and real-world business skills, and the money raised will help some compete in competitions. The students work with the owner of Vibe, Carlton McLellan, to develop the flavors for their coffee. For $15, people can get a bag of “Warm Blizzard Holiday Blend," “Spartan Spiced Caramel Crème,” and a new flavor that they created for this year.
“We went ahead and decided which one was not selling the best, and we went ahead and pushed that one aside and came up with something that we have never done before. Carlton (McLellan) came up to us and wanted something fruity. I was thinking peach cobbler; why not. We went a head and mixed in the peach cobbler with the pecan, and they loved it. Now we have “Grandma’s Cobbler in a Cup." We have our fundraiser going on through December 2nd. Pickup will be December 18th. We have a bunch of flavors that we can choose from, and we have a bundle deal for 4 bags for $55 and go ahead and support us; we would really appreciate it,” says Davyon Williamson, Pres. Senior DECA Chapter.
