Gun violence is a significant problem within the City of Lima, and local organizations are now taking initiative to combat against the recent rise in shootings. The Lima Area Black Minister Alliance along with administrators from Lima City Schools and community members came together at Providence Missionary Baptist Church for a "End the Gun Violence" community forum.

Tuesday evening, the community got the chance to hear from the 4th ward city council candidates at the Faurot West and Boulevard Neighborhood Association's Town Hall. Questions regarding safety, retaining the youth, and new housing strategies were just some of the topics addressed at the town hall. Dilapidated and vacant housing is an issue that both candidates Rebecca Kreher and Peggy Ehora say they are looking to tackle.

The election season is here, and the seven Lima council candidates got to talk about the issues facing the city in a debate Thursday evening. The event was hosted by the Lima African-American Chamber of Commerce and featured the candidates in the contested races for Lima’s second, fourth, and sixth wards. The candidates tackled questions about safety services, livable wages, and of course economic development. One of the reasons that the African-American chamber hosted this event is because they would like to see more inclusion of minority businesses in current and future business investments in Lima.
