The Star Spangled Spectacular kicked off a full day of activities with the Freedom 5K. Over 400 runners and walkers braved the heat Friday morning to take on the more than three-mile course around Lima.

Entertainment continues into the evening, with the Lima Area Concert Band performing at 8 p.m. in the Bowl at Faurot Park. The concert leads up to the region’s largest fireworks display, which will light up the sky at 10 p.m.
500 people start their 4th of July by taking part in the annual Freedom 5K in Lima.
Runners and walkers laced up their shoes and got their 4th of July holiday off on the right foot. Over 400 people competed or walked in the 2023 Freedom 5K in Lima. The event has been going on for around two decades now and has become a great tradition for people and families to kick off their day of holiday celebrations.
