Over 800 runners took part of this year’s Freedom 5K Run/Walk.
A long standing tradition at the Star Spangled Spectacular, the Freedom 5K is dedicated to our military veterans, both active and retired. The race attracts people of all skill levels to compete. Shawnee graduate and Ashland University Head Cross Country Coach Thomas Scott crossed the finish line first Monday morning. This is the 3rd year in a row that Scott has finished first in the race. The top three places for men and women will get prizes, the top three finisher for men and women in each of the 14 age groups.
And this 3rd year that bicyclists hit the road for the Freedom Fun Ride. The 9 mile course along the Ottawa River path gives riders to chance to do a scavenger hunt, answer trivia about Lima, and just enjoy a nice leisurely ride. Participants had a chance to win a new bike from Crankers Cycling.
Organizers say that they have more bicyclists each year of the event.
