The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year at Kaleidoscope Farms, a family-owned Christmas tree farm in Mount Cory.
The hospital recently hosted a Lunch and Learn event for prospective volunteers, where attendees heard from current volunteers who have dedicated decades of service to supporting patients and staff. The event highlighted the wide range of roles available, including patient care support, clerical work, gift shop assistance and other essential services.
The Lima Memorial Health System Auxiliary is ushering in the Christmas season during their annual bazaar and the opening of their gift shop. There was a wide variety of baked goods, homemade crafts, and holiday decorations for their bazaar, which were made by auxiliary members, hospital staff, retired associates, and community members. The auxiliary also unwrapped their gift shop, which has new holiday items and potential gifts for people to check out while they are visiting Lima Memorial Health System.
This Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m., Lima Memorial is hosting their Health and Wellness Fair at their newly renovated Welcome Center. There will be screenings, educational resources, services such as blood pressure checks, radiology, and more. Refreshments will also be provided. Even if you think you're healthy, all services at the event will come at no cost, so it's worth it to get screened for potential conditions.
The hospital sponsored a dessert reception for the volunteers to thank them for all they do. There are more than 300-individuals that give their time to the hospital and their patients. What hey do spans across the board from assisting patients to working in the gift shop. This was the first time they have been together as a group since the start of the pandemic. Everyone took the time to greet each other and catch up. They say they can always use more volunteers and encourage others to join them.
According to St. Rita’s, the gift shop does over half a million dollars in sales each year, and they are looking to drive some of that money back into the local economy.
