The school formerly known as Golden Bridge Academy had its last day of school in their new downtown Lima building, but now with an entirely new name and logo. It is now called the Leo Academy, named after one of its biggest supporters. The Pre-K through 7th grade school first moved into the building last summer, just two weeks before the year started. Now, they have successfully completed the first full year. They celebrated with an official induction and a fun field day for the students. The new principal, Kendra Gottschalk, says the last nine months have been some of the hardest, but it's all rewarding in the end.
The school is now accepting students from preschool to 7th grade, using two floors of the downtown building. The new space gives students and staff plenty of room to hold class in-person safely. A big feature in this new location is the computer lab upstairs, and that room may play a big part just in case a situation like the spring happens again.
When Golden Bridge Academy school started planning the return of their students in the fall, they knew that their current building would not hold up to the new COVID standards. Now, 71 Town Square in downtown Lima is the new home of Golden Bridge.
Preschoolers at Golden Bridge Academy celebrated one of their favorite authors on Friday. They held a birthday party for Dr. Seuss. All week they have been reading his books which educators say a good thing for the young students.
