Keith Horner, superintendent of Apollo Career Center, said the event is a great way to highlight the programs at the school. “People are very proud of what they’re doing here and what they’re learning here at Apollo, and we want them to be able to show it off. And it’s great for the grandparents to be able to see what we have to offer the students in the community.”
For Friday's Senior Showcase, Tri Star students invited their family members into the classroom to demonstrate the skills they have learned.
Apollo students got to show off what they are doing in their classes to their grandparents today. Around 400 grandparents came to Apollo Career Center Wednesday afternoon to visit the labs and classrooms to see the various projects and skills they are learning. Grandparents' Day is a long-standing tradition at Apollo and helps the students show how proud they are of their work to the people who are always proud of them.
It is called Parents Involvement Engagement Community Exchange or PIECE Night. Once a month, the West Middle School administration and school resource officers will be going around to different locations to meet with parents, to make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to their child’s education and development in the school.
