LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Apollo Career Center opened its doors to some very special guests on Wednesday as students invited their grandparents to join them at school.
The event gave students a chance to share what they have been learning while spending quality time with their grandparents over donuts and coffee. Both young and old enjoyed the opportunity to connect and explore the campus together.
Dean Hayes, grandfather to student Isabella, said, “It was fun to learn what she talks about and get to see it in person. So it was kind of neat to see her, and she demonstrated some things for us and everything. So it was a lot of fun.”
Isabella Swanger, a Sports Exercise Science sophomore, added, “We went to my lab, and I got to show them, what all I’ve learned so far, and then we got donuts.”
Keith Horner, superintendent of Apollo Career Center, said the event is a great way to highlight the programs at the school. “People are very proud of what they’re doing here and what they’re learning here at Apollo, and we want them to be able to show it off. And it’s great for the grandparents to be able to see what we have to offer the students in the community.”

Horner said nearly 400 students and grandparents participated in this year’s event.
