“We want all of those to come together. So hoping that we can get the word out so that anyone in the community that is a part of those and would love to celebrate and share all their heritage would come and join us at the Multicultural Expo,” said Julie Klingler, director of programs and partnerships for the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.
Since 2017, the Allen County 9/11 Memorial Foundation has raised roughly $60,000 to create an educational program to keep the memory of 9/11 alive.
The City of Lima will continue its electric aggregation program after negotiating a new rate.
It was a big day as ground was broken for the new Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater. The project has been in the works for 5 years with funding coming in from state, local, and private dollars. While the preparations for the project have been spearheaded by the Lima Rotary Club the park will be owned and maintained by the City of Lima. A first of its kind within the city.
Work on the long-awaited “Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater is set to begin with phase one of the project which will include the amphitheater and restrooms. The 2.5-million dollar project is funded in part by private donations and state funding dollars. The public-private partnership is a first for the city and will provide a vibrant and versatile public park in the heart of the city.
Groundbreaking for the Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater will be Monday, April 18 at 1:15pm, immediately following the regular Monday meeting of the Lima Rotary Club. Those making comments at the groundbreaking are Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp, Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman, Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith, Lima Rotary Club President Jeff Fitzgerald, Rotarian Rich Rudolph, Civc Center CEO Abe Ambroza, Lima Public Works Director Kirk Niemeyer.
