Students from the Northwest Conference go head to head in the 3rd Scholastic Bowl Tournament. Ohio State Lima hosted the competition, which pitted teams from eight conference schools against one another in seven rounds of questions in areas like history, science, math, and pop culture. There are varsity and junior varsity divisions for the tournament, with a winner crowned in each category. The tournament continues the competitive nature between the schools that goes beyond the athletic courts and fields.

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They were all a buzz at the last Brown Bag Series of the season at the Allen County Children's Garden Tuesday afternoon. It was all about bees—honeybees, to be exact. Did you know that 80% of food is pollinated by managed honeybees? Honey is the only food that contains all the essential nutrients to sustain life, and one hive can make 20 to 60 pounds of honey per year. There are three types of honey bees: the drone, the worker, and the queen. All are essential parts of a successful hive. As gardeners, we can also support the honey bees.
There's hundreds of projects being showcased in the Junior Fair Building with the same goal in mind: to make the best better. Ellie Janszen takes us to one of the coolest spots at the fair. Presentation is underway for the next generation of community leaders here in Auglaize County. The junior fair is taking place today. Junior fair exhibitors are showing off their months of hard work in their building. 4H members across the county had the chance to learn and grow through various projects like woodworking, sewing, safety, photography, and so much more. Presenters took advantage of trying new skills or expanding knowledge of their hobbies.
People from all over the region are looking forward to Lima's Star Spangled Spectacular, especially the fireworks show. Crews from Rozzi began setting up Thursday night's show on Wednesday. A little more than 900 shells are packed into the mortars and secured for the 20-minute synchronized show with the Lima Area Concert Band. They will be shot from just south of Safety City to explode over Faurot Park in a dazzling show. Some shells have been imported from several foreign countries to give more variety.
It was all smiles as some lucky students from Lima's West Middle School took a fishing expedition. Several of these students have never had the chance to fish or ride in a boat, but that all changed today. It has become an annual event that the City of Lima's Park and Recreation and Utilities Departments, along with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, provide for Allen County students. Rods, reels, wax worms, and instructions are provided for the kids to have a great experience.
