CRIDERSVILLE, OH (WLIO) - A local ranch threw a day full of fall fun to raise money to continue their animal therapies.
After 40 years, The Equestrian Therapy Program is still going strong, thanks to the support of the community. The organization held their annual Ride-A-Thon and Festival. The barn at the farm was filled with kids patiently waiting for their turn to ride and raise money through the pledges that they got. Beside the Ride-A-Thon, there were auctions and other activities to make this is a major fundraiser for the program. Through their stable of horses, The Equestrian Therapy Program provides physical therapy for disabled children, but they are looking to start a literacy program, and another program to help with mental and emotional therapy as well.

A big Allen County Fair tradition returns Monday evening at the Grandstands. The Dunlap-Renner Memorial Pace Harness Race was held at the Grandstands Monday evening.
Area youth were able to learn what goes into caring for a horse as well as riding skills. Fassett Farm held their Equestrian Therapy Program on Thursday, where area youth were able to learn key skills in grooming, leading, horse healthcare, and overall riding skills. Organizers for the event hope that the kids who participate in the program not only have fun but gain key horsemanship skills.
To bring light to the need to improve literacy in our area, the Lima Literacy Council and the Equestrian Therapy program at Fassett Farms are teaming up to present “Reading to a Horse.” Wednesday “Mocha” visited the literacy council to promote a new program that they will be offering to people wanting to improve their reading skills.
One of the few events the junior fair hosted today at the Auglaize County Fair was the horse roping show.
