An Allen County man facing a charge from a 2020 arson fire, tried to get a new lawyer before his trial was set to begin next month. 53-year-old Jason Raines Sr. is charged with aggravated arson and Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court he tried to get the judge to give him a new lawyer because he says he was not able to get his lawyer to return phone calls in a timely manner. The judge denied that request and the trial is set to start on January 9th, 2023.
19-year-old Jaquan Glenn signed a speedy time waiver in Allen County Common Pleas Court. His trial has been moved to February of 2023. Glenn and five other teens were charged with the murder of 17-year-old Jaden Halpern. According to law enforcement, on June 10th, the teens tried to lure Halpern out of his Lane Avenue home.
During the opening statements in the trial for 31-year-old Tarockis Greer, lawyers laid out their case to the jury. Prosecutors say that on July 12th, Greer and Durant Tyson went to the home, where three people were recovering from a party the night before. At one point that morning, they say Greer allegedly went upstairs to a bedroom where one of the victims was sleeping and pointed a gun at him.

Today, media sources say Trump’s lawyers have accepted the subpoena from the House January 6 Select Committee. The former president and his lawyers have until November 4th to turn over any documents that were requested, and until November 14th to testify at a deposition. A Lima teen facing two counts of rape has been found guilty on one count and not guilty on the other. The jury deliberated for almost 4 hours and returned the verdicts on 19-year-old Jourdyn Rawlins. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and Rawlins bond was revoked. He was indicted twice last year for each of these charges. Before hearing the verdict, Rawlins was able to take the stand in his defense, where he talked about one of the encounters being consensual.
39-year-old Leroy Foster was sentenced on a single charge of felonious assault, with a three-year gun specification. Foster accepted a plea deal if prosecutors agree to drop a repeat violent offender specification that he was indicted on. Even though he claims he is innocent, Foster could have faced 21 years in prison if a jury found him guilty on everything, so he opted for the six-year plea deal.
During sentencing, family members of the victim spoke out against Brown calling him a monster for what he did to the young boy, who has suffered psychological damage from the incidents according to the prosecutor. Brown refused to speak during the hearing, but his lawyer said that he plans to appeal the conviction. Brown was also classified as a tier three sex offender.
21-year-old Zachary Love had a pre-trial this afternoon in Hancock County Common Pleas Court. Lawyers are getting ready for love's trial scheduled for November 14th. There has been a final pretrial set for October to make sure everything is in place. Love was released from jail on bail last week.
Emin Johnson appeared in court where his lawyer and the state went over documents that are not available yet in his case. The state explained that the DNA report, as well as the crash incident report, have not been finalized and released to both parties, further stating that it could take more than a week to get the necessary documents to have the case proceed. Johnson's lawyer also shared that a plea offer has not yet been made to his client and that they intend to sign a speedy trial waiver to help the court.
Lawyers for 19-year-old Na'zier Howard asked for more time to prepare for the trial which has been moved from May 31st to after Labor Day. Howard was indicted by the Allen County Grand Jury on the charges of aggravated murder, murder, and having a weapon under disability.
