The annual Lifewise 5K on Labor Day continues to grow in it's 4th year.
Over 400 runners and walkers got out on Labor Day to support religious education in Allen and Putnam Counties. Lifewise Academy held its 3rd annual 5K run at their Eldia location Monday morning.
First through fourth-grade students from Shawnee Elmwood and Maplewood Schools will attend the off-site classes once a week to learn more about religion and the bible. Kindergarten students are expected to start attending in January. The new classrooms have been set up through a collaboration between Shawnee Alliance Church and LifeWise academy, and educators are excited to get the school year underway.
Lifewise Academy held their 2nd annual 5K run in Elida. The program gives students, with their parents’ permission, the chance to spend less than an hour during the school day learning about religion and the bible. Elida Elementary will be starting their second year with the program and Allen East and Spencerville will be beginning their first.
Lifewise Academy is getting ready to spread the word of the Lord to more students across the state and country this coming school year. They are holding a two-day summit in Van Wert for their bible focused instructors before the next school year starts. Lifewise is a religious instruction program, that happens during the school day but off of school property.
Lima Rotarians learning about the “LifeWise Academy”, a Released Time Religious Instruction program. that provides bible-based character education during the school day. The way it works is that students, with parental permission, can leave their school grounds to attend the privately funded class. The program was founded by Van Wert native Joel Penton. Locally there is a class in Elida with the hopes of launching others in Spencerville and Allen East in the fall. “LifeWse Academy” programs are growing across the state and even beyond.
A former residence in Elida will be repurposed into a two classrooms. LifeWise Academy will be transforming the residence located at 4289 Sunnydale Road in Elida to a two classroom building.
