LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â A night of betting, food, drinks, and good company supported Lima Central Catholic students.
Students who are excelling academically were recognized earlier this evening at Lima Central Catholic High School. About 40 sophomores, juniors, and seniors were awarded an academic letter, which is earned after a student maintains a 3.6 cumulative GPA through the third quarter of the school year.
Earlier today, a recent graduate from Lima Central Catholic High School and their favorite teacher had the chance to win a free car from the Taylor Automotive Family, as a part of their Driven to Succeed program.
Students at Lima Central Catholic High School are giving back to others with a first-time donation. The school teamed up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive. Students got the chance to give the gift of life as many donated for the first time. An event like this goes along with the school's mission of giving back. They say they are making a difference as 20-minutes of their time is saving lives.
The students at Lima Central Catholic rallied around their returning state champion classmates on Tuesday afternoon. LCC Girls Golf Team was celebrated by the entire school as they showed off their hardware from winning the state golf title over the weekend. The championship marks the ladies' second consecutive state title. This one coming with no seniors on the team. The coach said the young players really stepped up to help claim the victory this year. He says it shows the great support and dedication for students to compete at LCC.
They are just there, sometimes going unnoticed but are important for life. They are trees and this week has been set aside for the education of the importance of them. The City of Lima's Urban Forestry Department will be celebrating Arbor Day this Friday as they head out to Lima Central Catholic High School.
Announcing your 2019 Ohio Poetry Out Loud State Champion, Anna Kahle of Lima Central Catholic! She will be traveling to Washington, D.C., April 29- May 1 to represent our state at the Poetry National Finals! Poetry Out Loud (POL) encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary heritage and contemporary life. Created by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is administered in partnership with the State Arts Agencies of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
You might have believed all the presidential candidates were in Lima tonight. Hillary Clinton, Bernie sanders, Ted Cruz and even Donald trump brought their campaigns to Lima Central Catholic High School.
