11 people were honored for their work in the community by the Marimor Employment Services Department. The ceremony recognized individuals enrolled in the program that have held jobs in the community from 5 to 30 years. In 2022, 11 people were honored who have worked in fields such as community service, childcare, and warehouse jobs. Organizers say an event like this is important to recognize the hard work being done in the local community.
To thank the community for their continued support, Marimor was collecting paper from anyone who needed it shredded.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness month and thanks to all of the local businesses that support the mission of Marimor Industries, they are having a free shred day on October 28th. The event is open to any business or individuals to have their documents destroyed in a safe and confidential manner. Everything except x-rays, microfilm, plastic, or sticky labels will be accepted. If you want to have your documents shred drop them off at Marimor Industries at 2450 Ada Road on Oct. 28th, 9:30 am-2 pm.
Students of Project SEARCH will embark on three 10-week internships throughout the school year. They will participate in 22 internships at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, where they will learn work and life skills to help transition out of high school. Eleven students with developmental disabilities are enrolled this year. In the past, there has been an 89% job placement rate after the program, and even in a world of COVID, they are staying optimistic.
Ten finalists took to the Allen East stage to prove they've got the right stuff to be Marimor's idol. While they were singing their favorite song to the crowd, people participating in the 14th annual Marimor Idol competition were judged on their stage presence and vocal quality. The event gives those with developmental disabilities a chance to step into the spotlight and be the stars.
This morning the Allen County Educational Service Center hosted a regional event that helps provide resources for those with disabilities.

It's late March and activities are in full swing for Developmental Disabilities Month in Allen County.
