29-year-old Markiesha Blackman was indicted this week by the Allen County Grand Jury. Blackman is still in the Allen County Jail on a $350,000 bond. Lima police say that back on November 22, 2022, a fire was intentionally set at 125 West O'Connor. Everyone was able to get out of the house safely. A witness saw Blackman leave the residence before the fire started.
29-year-old Markeisha Blackman appeared for a preliminary hearing in Lima Municipal Court. The Lima Police Department says that on November 22nd, a fire was intentionally set at 125 West O'Connor with four individuals inside. Those individuals were able to get out of the house when the fire started. Blackman declined to sign a waiver for the hearing, which led the prosecution to call Lima Police Detective Steven Stechschulte.
A Lima woman arrested for allegedly trying to burn down a house with people inside, has her first court hearing on the charge. 29-year-old Markiesha Blackman is facing the charge of aggravated arson, a felony of the first degree. If her case gets bound over to Allen County Common Pleas Court and she is convicted of one count of aggravated arson, Blackman could face between 3 and 16 years in prison. Judge Tammie Hursh set Blackman's bond at $350,000. According to the Lima Police Department, on Tuesday November 22nd a fire was intentionally set at 125 west O'Connor. Four individuals were inside and were able to get out of the home when the fire started. After doing interviews, police arrested Blackman. The case is still under investigation. Blackman will have her preliminary hearing on December 1st.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima woman is in jail awaiting her day in court on arson charges.
The Lima Fire Department received a call just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning of heavy smoke coming from a home at 125 W. O'Connor Avenue. They found extensive fire damage to the rear and upstairs of the house. We are told all occupants left the building prior to arrival with no injuries. Lima fire investigators were on sight as the blaze is believed to be suspicious. American Township was also called in to help out.
