Lima held their annual Memorial Day parade to honor those who lost their lives for our freedom.
Many of our local communities are hosting events to honor those who gave all for their country.
The Lima Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m., featuring one of the region’s largest parades and a Department of Defense military flyover. The day’s events will also include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and a community gathering in downtown Lima.

Members of the community lined Main Street this morning for a Memorial Day tradition. The sun was shining bright for the 2019 edition of the Lima Memorial Day Parade. Many came out to see the 49 different groups that took part in this year’s holiday parade. Although Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have served the United States but did not return home, Lima honored those people that helped many make it home. The Grand Marshalls this year were veterans who were corpsman, medics, or nurses.
The Allen County Veterans Council is looking to shine a spotlight on military medical personnel this Memorial Day. The council is looking for nurses and other medical personnel who have served their country to join the grand marshal group for this year's memorial day parade. As of now, only eight people have committed to take part but the council is hoping to fill a few more seats before the big day.
