LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima held their annual Memorial Day parade to honor those who lost their lives for our freedom.

The Lima Memorial Day parade brings organizations, businesses, charities, and families together to recognize the freedoms in America.

This year, although cloudy, a military flyover was heard across Lima to help honor veterans.

Lima honors fallen heroes with strong turnout at annual Memorial Day parade

Groups of all ages were dressed in patriotic gear to show their love for the U.S. and a judge panel was present to choose the best parade float.

Many attendees said this is the best turnout for a parade they've seen since the pandemic.

"It's very important because those guys gave their lives, they couldn't come home, so we need to respect them on Memorial Day, and show respect for all of the people that died across the different time periods. You know, obviously World War II was the biggest loss of life in any of the military so far," says David Parker, Lauer Farms 1944 float.

"We've got hundreds of participants, and thousands of people that are going to be coming through the parade. The parade route is already lined with more people than last year," says Aaron Poling, Friends of Lima.

Organizers say that the great turnout represents Lima’s priority to honor the fallen soldiers for Memorial Day.
