LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The annual Lima Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m. Organizers say the event remains one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the region.
The parade is organized by the Friends of Lima, and registration is still open for those wishing to participate. Interested individuals and organizations can contact Adena or Aaron Poling to sign up for the event. CALL 567-242-4950 or 419-234-5266 TO ENTER.
Parade Director Aaron Poling said the parade is a meaningful way to recognize veterans and their service to the country.
“Veterans in our community are very well represented, and they're very important to us. And this parade means a lot to us to represent the veterans in a very positive light,” Poling said. “And our parade is the only parade that has a flyover from the Department of Defense, and we're very proud of that. It'll happen at 10:20.”
Organizers say the military flyover will take place along the parade route at approximately 10:20 a.m.
Following the parade, the annual laying of the wreaths at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier will be held at noon at the American Legion on North Shore Drive.
Community members are also invited to attend an after-parade gathering at the Social House in the downtown social district.
