LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Community Aquatic Park is preparing to open its outdoor facilities for the summer season during Memorial Day weekend.
The first official day of the outdoor season will be Saturday, May 23, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Families will be able to enjoy the outdoor pool, water slides and spray features as the summer season gets underway.
The facility will also host a Memorial Day celebration following the Lima Memorial Day Parade. Staff members will hand out $5 coupons along the parade route that can be used toward admission to the aquatic park.
New this year is the addition of Sensory Thursdays, which will begin at 9 a.m. and are designed for families with children or adults who experience sensory overload issues.
“They’re able to be in a quieter environment,” said Kesley Pughsley of Lima Parks and Recreation. “Whistles will only be blown if extremely necessary. The music and noise level will just be a lot calmer and quieter. So it’s a great experience to get out to the pool and not have to worry about all the extra noise that city pools bring.”
Information on daily admission prices, season passes, classes and programs can be found on the aquatic park’s website.
