The Lima Symphony Orchestra hosted “Mornings with the Maestro” at the Lima Public Library, teaching children and adults about string instruments and inspiring interest in music education.
Local children explored the fundamentals of jazz and participated in an interactive music program during the Lima Symphony’s “Mornings with the Maestro” series.

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Kids on Saturday morning were treated to an interactive lesson on one of the oldest forms of music.
It is never to early to foster young children’s love of music. Fresh of his performance with the Lima Symphony Orchestra on Friday night, Cellist Henry Shapard entertained a different crowd at the Mornings with the Maestro hosted by the Lima Public Library. During the event, he showed the kids just how fun and versatile the cello can be, by demonstrating how is reflect different emotions and even mimic some animal sounds. Shapard started playing the Cello when he was three years old and says playing for children are his favorite performances.
The latest Lima Symphony Orchestra candidate heads to the Lima Public Library during his audition tour. Andrew Crust brought his musical talents to the "Mornings with the Maestro" program at the library. Crust led members of the orchestra's string quartet in an interactive presentation and performance for young children. The session included both classical and modern favorites like "Baby Shark". Crust focused on teaching the children how to be a conductor and the program also gives the symphony the chance to watch the finalists’ interaction with both the symphony and community.
