LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Members of the Lima Symphony Orchestra provided the soundtrack to a fun and educational experience at Mornings with the Maestro on Saturday.

A brass quintet brought a little movie magic to the popular series at the Lima Public Library. Attendees of all ages enjoyed classic movie scores from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and more. During the program, they saw how musical instruments create the tone and emotions behind some of Hollywood’s biggest films.

“Kids. You know, a lot of them, their entry point to orchestral music is through movies or video games. And so this is a great way to meet them at their level and maybe give them better ears. So next time they hear a movie, they can say, oh, that's the French horn. That's the trumpet. We just want kids to understand and have an enjoyment of a wide variety of music, not just what their parents listen to. And so we are trying to expose them to lots of different kinds of music, not to become professional musicians necessarily, but just to enjoy it for the rest of their lives,” said Andrew Crust, music director of the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to Mornings with the Maestro, members of the symphony will travel to local libraries for their Symphony Storytime series.
