The Lima Area Concert Band is ready to perform a wide variety of music for their 2024 season. Their first concert is called "The Beat Goes On" and will feature their new timpani drums that they purchased with the Lima Symphony Orchestra. They'll also bring back their favorite Sousa and cabaret shows, and they will end their season with music from the stage and screen.

April 17, 2024, Press Release from the Lima Symphony Orchestra: Lima, OH (April 17, 2024) – The Lima Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce its 2024-2025 season. The season features high-profile guest artists and conductors, new music, symphonic arrangements of pop and rock hits, and favorite repertoire classics. The Symphony returns in October with a transformative season of diverse programs and repertoire. The Grand Series concerts begins with a guest artist electric violinist leading the stage. Following is a program full of timeless masterworks by Brahms and Handel, including selections from Handel’s Water Music and choral anthems, performed alongside the Lima Symphony Chorus. Continuing the annual tradition of Bells, Brass and Bows, audience members will be invited to sing along with carols and sacred hymns as well as listen to the soundtracks of beloved Christmas films. Ending the holiday program are selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. Two favorite orchestral-operatic pieces: Carmen and Bolero will then transport the audience to Spain. The season finale features an exploration of the American landscape, concluding with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Brian Woods will offer a free, public performance at Ohio Northern University on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at 8 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Snyder Recital Hall. He will also host a free “Professionalism in Music” seminar for the campus community and the public in Snyder Recital Hall at 1 p.m. that day.
