LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Area Concert Band is ready to perform a wide variety of music for their 2024 season.
Their first concert is called "The Beat Goes On" and will feature their new timpani drums that they purchased with the Lima Symphony Orchestra. They'll also bring back their favorite Sousa and cabaret shows, and they will end their season with Music of Stage and Screen.
The band is made up of 70 volunteer musicians from around northwest Ohio who enjoy challenging music and entertaining crowds.
"It's so exciting; the musicians are amazing. We are given really tough music; I see a lot of people bouncing their heads, clapping, tapping their toes," says Angie Herzog, Lima Area Concert Band. "I think the people in the audience get a good concert, and certainly, we musicians are having a wonderful time too."
The season starts on May 11th at the Veterans Civic Center. Tickets are $50 for the season or $15 for individual concerts. Students are free. To get tickets, log on to limaareaconcertband.org or go to the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center box office at 7 Town Square, Lima, OH 45801 or Von's Jewelry at 3217 Elida Rd, Lima, OH 45805.
