January 14, 2025, Press Release from the Lima Symphony Orchestra: Lima, OH—The Lima Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is thrilled to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America award of $10,000. This generous grant will support the orchestra’s upcoming educational initiative, Found Sound Around the World. The NEA will award 272 Challenge America awards nationwide, totaling $2,720,000, as part of its recent announcement of fiscal year 2025 grants. Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, Executive Director of the Lima Symphony Orchestra, expressed her gratitude for this recognition and support, stating, “The Lima Symphony Orchestra is deeply grateful to the National Endowment for the Arts for their generous support of Found Sound Around the World. This transformative program will engage young participants in the joy of music-making, fostering creativity, collaboration, and cultural exploration while building lasting connections within our community. October 1, 2024, Press Release from the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce: Wapakoneta, OH – The Riverside Art Center, in collaboration with the Ohio Arts Council and Auglaize-Sidney Audiology, is excited to announce Wapakoneta’s first-ever "Art in the Park" event, taking place on Saturday, October 5, at Heritage Park from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This Fine Art Show & Sale will showcase the talent of 20 artists across a range of mediums, including painting, photography, digital art, jewelry, fiber art, woodwork, and even upcycled guitar art. Attendees will also have the chance to meet a local children’s book author and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces directly from the artists.

Announcing your 2019 Ohio Poetry Out Loud State Champion, Anna Kahle of Lima Central Catholic! She will be traveling to Washington, D.C., April 29- May 1 to represent our state at the Poetry National Finals! Poetry Out Loud (POL) encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary heritage and contemporary life. Created by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is administered in partnership with the State Arts Agencies of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
