Young future leaders get a lesson on how to make a change in their community and the history of being an impactful leader. The Youth for Change is an initiative that is supported by the City of Lima, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Grand Lake Community Theater Association to promote leadership through arts. Saturday the students learned more about municipal government and how change happens at a local level with 5th Ward Councilman Jamie Dixon. Plus, they also looked at historic black leaders, how they inspired current leaders, and how they need to continue to pass that passion to lead on to the next generation.

“As many as the adults can help them along the way it would be important in order to guide them and give them the wisdom that they need they need kinda like what I am going to be doing today in terms of showing them the picture of what it’s like to be able to overcome,” says Albert Earl, who spoke on the history of Black Leaders. “But remember key things like integrity, honesty, and believing strongly on standing on what you believe in.”
Youth for Change was started to create well-rounded leaders in Allen County.
