Lima, Ohio — Perry broke a scoreless tie in the fourth quarter and never looked back, defeating Hardin Northern 14-0 Friday night in a Northwest Central Conference matchup. The Commodores (2-1, 1-0 NWCC) were locked in a defensive battle with the Polar Bears (1-2, 0-1 NWCC) through three quarters before senior running back Wyatt Taviano sparked the offense with a touchdown run early in the fourth. Perry capitalized on the momentum by going for two, and Braelyne McGill converted to give the Commodores an 8-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Taviano added his second rushing touchdown of the night — a six-yard score — to seal the victory and help Perry climb above the .500 mark. The Commodores' defense held strong throughout, pitching a shutout and handing Hardin Northern its second loss of the season. Perry returns to action next week looking to build on its conference-opening win.
