DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) - Police have confirmed that a murder/suicide claimed the lives of two Delphos residents on Monday.

The Delphos Police Department says that an autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner's Office confirmed that the shooting at 302 South Bredeick Street was a murder/suicide.

68-year-old Carol Short had died by multiple gunshots to the body while 60-year-old Timothy Short died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The department adds that the investigation is still ongoing. Toxicology examinations are still underway and will be reviewed by investigators.

Both Carol and Timothy were released to a local funeral home after their autopsies were completed.

The Autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office did confirm that the shooting investigation at 302 S. Bredeick St. in Delphos on September 15th 2025 was confirmed to be a Murder/Suicide investigation. 

Names of the deceased were as follows:

Carol M. Short (age 68) of that address,   died as a result of multiple gunshots to the body.

Timothy Short (age 60) and spouse of Carol,   died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is still pending toxicology examinations and once completed,  they will be reviewed by investigators.    The bodies of Carol and Timothy were both released to the Funeral Home upon completion of the Lucas County Autopsy.

DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) - Police looking into what they believe to be a murder-suicide in Delphos.

Delphos officers were called out to the 300 block of South Bredeick Street late Monday afternoon after the report of gunshots heard from inside a home there. Investigators tell us they found the bodies of two adults inside the residence. Both were taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for autopsies.

Police say the preliminary investigation reveals the case is consistent with a murder/suicide situation and a handgun was found at the scene. No names have been released yet pending the notification of family members.

Delphos Police were assisted by crime scene agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
