The Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation and the Ohio History Connection’s State Historic Preservation Office will sponsor a Building Doctor Clinic for old-building owners in and around Ottawa from June 25-26.

America 250-Ohio, the official state commission responsible for spearheading Ohio’s celebrations and commemorations relating to America’s semiquincentennial in 2026, announced today a major statewide effort to locate, verify and document the final resting places of Revolutionary War veterans buried in Ohio.

Some say it's the crown jewel of Lima, and this weekend you can see what the talk is all about. As part of the Ohio History Connections "Ohio Open Doors" program, the 1893 Victorian mansion will be open free of charge on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will also have some special peeks at areas not seen before in the house. The nearly two-story 1915 stained glass has recently been restored and is a sight to see. The home is the last of the mansions on Lima's golden block, and admission is free Saturday. They are encouraging people to come out and see the grandeur of this Victorian home.

The grant came from the Ohio History Connection in honor of the anniversary when Ohio got its statehood on March 1st. The grant will be used to help make repairs to the masonry on the outside of the museum and replace the roof on the rear addition of the 160-year-old building. The Ohio History Connection awarded a record $207,000 spread over 18 grants around the state.

It's been just over 100 years since women earned the right to vote in America, and the Auglaize County Historical Society is commemorating it. The Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta is the next site of a traveling history exhibit curated by the organization Ohio History Connection. It is titled "Ohio Women Vote: 100 Years of Change", and it showcases the efforts made by Ohio women over decades to earn the right to vote. Although the 100-year anniversary was technically in 2020, the pandemic postponed the event. However, the Administrator of the Auglaize County Historical Society, Rachel Barber, says it's not too late to celebrate.

The museum that holds full-sized air crafts, moon rocks, and space capsules will be open to the public starting June 23rd,  but with a compromised schedule. They’ll be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays as of now, but they say they hope to add more days of operation in phases.
