The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP), along with the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2023 scholarship program. Students who are interested in pursuing careers in the natural gas and oil industry can qualify for a $1,000 scholarship. Applications will be accepted through March 1.

Senator Rob Portman says the COVID stimulus package created so much demand when supply was down, creating the situation that we are facing right now. Inflation is currently at 9.1% and has affected just about every economic sector. Portman says when he talks to Ohioans, the first thing that they are concerned about is the rising cost of daily living. To correct this, he says the United States needs to stop stimulus spending and do better in opening up supplies, including energy.

The average price for a gallon of gasoline continues to break records and experts don't see the rise stopping anytime soon. As of Tuesday morning, AAA says the average price for a gallon of gas is around $4.17. Locally we are below the national average, topping out around $4.09 a gallon at noon on Tuesday. Besides setting an average high, this recent run also set a record for the biggest jump in price over the past seven days, at 49 cents.

A recent drone strike against the center of Saudi Arabia’s oil production could shake the global economy and more. The attack has suspended the production of over 5 million barrels of oil a day. Steve Cleaves worked for Saudi Aramco for over 20 years and understands how the oil fields operate. He added, with the attack, if the world oil supply price per barrel goes up it’ll reciprocate in the U.S. Meaning more money spent at the fuel pumps.
