The Lima Exchange Club awarded a $1,500 scholarship to Ohio State University Lima senior Elaine Webster for her commitment to a career in child welfare. Webster, who has interned with Allen County Children Services, will graduate in 2027 and has already accepted a position with the agency.
“Hidden in Plain Sight” is a traveling exhibit that highlights the danger of substance misuse. It displays a typical bedroom that has “normal” items and “indicator” items that can represent involvement in dangerous and/or illegal activity. It’s an interactive experience to open your eyes to current trends that could lead to tragedy.
Thursday, the Ohio Redistricting Commission will be at Ohio State Lima to hear from people on how they think the state’s districts should be drawn. The commission was formed by a 2015 ballot initiative to create non-partisan districts which were overwhelmingly passed by the voters. Thursday’s meeting is one of several happening around the state gathering public input.
