LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Exchange Club is continuing its efforts to support individuals pursuing careers in child welfare by awarding a local college student a scholarship.
The club presented Elaine Webster, a senior at Ohio State University Lima, with a $1,500 scholarship. Webster, a psychology major, has been working with Allen County Children Services through a fellowship program that she said expanded her understanding of the field.
“The fellowship is through the state of Ohio, and it allows you to go into agencies as an intern, you could either do six months or up to a year. And you, in my experience, I got to shadow intake workers ongoing and our specialized workers, so I got to see the full scope of children welfare,” Webster said.
Webster is expected to graduate in 2027 and has accepted a position with Allen County Children Services following her studies.
