LIMA, OH — The Allen County Fairgrounds was buzzing with energy this weekend as the Mees Promotions Lima Half-Mile returned to town.
The department says the promotions recognize the leadership and dedication of longtime members as they continue their service to the community.
Firefighter Scott Jacobs, a nine-year veteran of the department, has been promoted to lieutenant. In addition, Lt. Matt Parker, who has served the Lima Fire Department for 21 years, has been promoted to captain.
The Lima Fire Department is seeing several firefighters move up the ranks as the department undergoes numerous changes following retirements and departures over the past year.
Promotions today at the Lima Police Department, including one that runs in the family. Lieutenant Zac Leland becomes the department's newest major, following in the law enforcement footsteps of his dad and retired Lima Police Department detective, Scott Leland. The proud papa flew in from Florida to surprise his son, who becomes the department's youngest major at age 35 and now will head up the patrol division.
The Lima Fire Department is looking to fill positions because of retirements and promotions.
