The Lima Fire Department is looking to fill positions because of retirements and promotions.
Chief Bruce Black at the Mayor's Weekly Briefing announcing several promotions within the department through civil service testing. 17 year veteran firefighter, Jack McDermitt has been promoted from captain to battalion chief. Lieutenant Brian Stewart is now a captain with 19 years of experience. Firefighter Derek Newland was promoted to lieutenant with 13 years at the department. Because of these promotions and upcoming retirements there will be openings at the department.
"We have a potential of hiring probably four new fire fighters within the next six to twelve months," commented Chief Bruce Black.
Those positions will be filled through civil service candidates.
