LIMA (WLIO) — Lima Central Catholic rallied late and then delivered the final blow in the bottom of the seventh to beat Lima Senior 9-8 in the latest baseball meeting of the Lima Cup.
The Spartans grabbed a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth when a wild pitch to the backstop allowed the go-ahead run to score from third.
The Thunderbirds answered in the bottom half as Caden Falke dropped a hit into shallow territory, bringing home J.J. Schnieders to tie the game at 7-7.
Lima Senior moved back in front in the seventh when Jayden Miller lifted a ball deep enough to left field for Josiah Phillips to tag and score, making it 8-7.
But with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Michael Quatman came through with a two-run single to give Lima Central Catholic the walk-off win.
