“If you don't pay by that point, it's going to roll forward into the next year, and that's when you start getting interest charged on those delinquent charges,” Bohn said. “However, once you're about 18 months delinquent and you have been posted in the newspaper, which also happens after we do that delinquent billing cycle, then you are eligible for foreclosure.”
The Ohio House is expected to reconvene on July 21st to revisit three specific budget vetoes.
DeWine issued 67 line-item vetoes, including the removal of proposed property tax changes that lawmakers had included, which he said would have impacted schools and local governments.
Lima City Council held a special meeting to pass a resolution opposing House Bill 335, known as the "Property Tax Relief Now Act." According to the city's finance director, Meri Foster, the bill would eliminate inside millage of property taxes for cities, counties and school systems as the state looks to reduce property taxes.
