The City of Lima is asking residents to fill out a quick survey in order to benefit the community. The survey, located on the City of Lima's website, is asking for input on housing needs, public services, infrastructure improvements, and fair housing.
Construction of the new Allen County Administration Building is in full swing, with a completion date expected this fall.
Dionne Dickey, a community development specialist for the city of Lima, said resident input plays a direct role in how funding is allocated.
“It helps to determine where funding that we receive needs to go. Plain and simple, the city of Lima receives some federal dollars in the form of the Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds. And those dollars are determined by what is needed here in Lima.”
To address potential financial strain, Smith has asked Lima City Council to approve a voluntary early retirement incentive program for eligible city employees. The proposal would apply to employees with at least 25 years of service. Smith says if all eligible staff choose to participate, the move could substantially reduce labor costs and improve operational efficiency.
"Any of our veterans that are waiting for their appointments or their rides to appointments, they now will have a place to get in out of the weather," said Allen County Commissioner Brian Winegardner. "There will be a bathroom in there, lobby, office area, storage and so on. So I think it will be a good fit for what our veterans need."

Students at Shawnee Middle School are getting some interactive learning under their belts today. Thursday was the 6th annual STEM Day for 7th and 8th grade students at Shawnee. Students had the opportunity to visit with STEM professionals in the community and learn with hands-on interactive stations. The STEM activities ranged from pharmacy at Ohio Northern to EMS and paramedics from Rhodes State College and much more.
An accident at a Coldwater industrial facility lead to one person being sent to the hospital. The Coldwater Police Department says that they were called to 120 Harvest Drive in Coldwater around 10:30 Wednesday morning for an industrial accident.
DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - Delphos Fire and Rescue held an open house Wednesday night for high school students interested in joining the cadet program.
There are several levels of nursing that someone can earn, depending on what kind of care they would like to provide for patients. One of those levels is a Licensed Practical Nurse or LPN, and students at Rhodes State College can become an LPN with the college's Practical Nursing Certificate Program.
