Those in attendance joined in activities involving fire science, safety, hose and water systems, while also being trained to take vitals, triage, first aid, and CPR.

They were given information and learned what a career in fire and EMS is like. Those in attendance joined in activities involving fire science, safety, hose and water systems, while also being trained to take vitals, triage, first aid, and CPR.

"We're just trying to get the kids out here to see that this is a good opportunity to learn about the career and actually be involved in the community and seeing that this is a prospect for their future career. This program can actually benefit them on furthering their education into other careers, such as an athletic trainer. If they wanted to be an athletic trainer, they would benefit from coming here because you're going to learn skills, such as CPR and wound care, handling broken bones, and injuries, so that would be one career that would benefit from actually doing this program," said Mika Layman, firefighter paramedic.

With civic service jobs declining in popularity, Delphos Fire Rescue hopes this program can spark more interest amongst younger individuals.
