LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Work on a new location for the Allen County Child Support Enforcement Agency is expected to begin soon after county commissioners approved a contract for the project.

Commissioners awarded the renovation contract to Muhlenkamp Building Corporation, which will complete upgrades to the first, second and third floors of the Chase Tower building on West High Street.

The project is estimated to cost $1.9 million and will be tailored to meet the agency’s operational needs, with a focus on improving accessibility and functionality for both the public and employees.

Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan said the renovation will provide a significant improvement over the agency’s current space.

"Much needed upgrade to the office facility. It's actually going to be a new facility, but an upgrade to the office space that they have more conducive to the public, the users that need, that need to come into the facility, but also important for the employees you know, those that are working behind the desk and doing the great work on behalf of the children here in Allen County."

Noonan said the goal is to have the agency relocated to the new facility within the next year.
