ArtSpace/Lima is continuing renovations on the historic 59 Building, which will become a new space for galleries, classrooms and events. Officials say the project will expand programming and create new revenue opportunities as fundraising efforts continue.

A downtown Lima landmark is celebrating a major milestone.
ArtSpace/Lima Executive Director Sally Windle has been recognized with a statewide honor for her leadership and dedication to the arts.
Sally Windle, executive director of ArtSpace Lima, said, “So there's an opportunity for people all across the world to be able to not only compete with this, but then they also have a chance to be nominated for an Academy Award. So it's just more inspiration. It's an opportunity, and it's also getting more and more filmmakers out there, because these shorts are gaining in popularity.”
CreativeOhio has announced the finalists for the 2025 Champion Advocacy Awards, and Lima will be strongly represented at the statewide celebration this fall.
ArtSpace Executive Director Sally Windle said the building has a rich history, but they only knew what the exterior looked like from photos at the Allen County Museum.
“We've got three artists who do different things, but they all have a really great spirit, and that's why we've been aimed at capturing the spirit,” said Sally Windle, executive director of ArtSpace Lima. “So when you come in, you're going to see lots of information, lots of styles, lots of stories, but a great, great show.”

A multi-decade Lima art tradition showcased the artistic talents of area high school students. On Friday evening, students from 19 regional high schools participated in the 36th annual Kewpee High School Art Invitational at ArtSpace/Lima. Students were able to show their work through a variety of mediums ranging from drawing and painting to digital and mixed media as well as ceramics, jewelry, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Through whichever medium a student embraces, organizers say the art allows students to display their heart and soul.
