A two vehicle crash occurred Monday Afternoon in Elida resulting in significant car damage to both vehicles. Around 5 PM Monday, a silver Dodge Journey traveling westbound on State Route 309 just west of Piquad Road in Elida rear ended a parked black Scion that was on the shoulder of the road.

The Bath Township Trustees have officially passed an overlay resolution they believe will bring future growth in the Lost Creek area. The proposed overlay would cover State Route 309 between Saratoga Avenue and west of Devonshire Drive.

It would allow someone who buys a residential property in the area to change it into a commercial space as long it meets approved guidelines. Current homeowners would not be affected by the overlay unless they decide to sell their property.

They have been put on the list of most dangerous intersections in the state by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and changes to improve them are on the drawing board. As part of the Governor's “Intersection Safety Program”, two eastern Allen County intersections on State Route 309 at Napoleon and Thayer Roads will see major changes. The Ohio Department of Transportation will be holding a public meeting to present alternatives to improve safety at those intersections. They are a traditional widening with left-turn lanes at each road or a single-lane roundabout.

A vehicle crash shuts down State Route 309 and West State Road for at least two hours Friday(11/8/19) evening. The accident happened just after 7 p.m. Details are still few but we know four people were transported from the crash. Officials say one person is in serious condition.
