HARDIN CO., Ohio (WLIO) — A Vaughnsville man was seriously injured in a Thursday night crash in Hardin County.
According to the Findlay post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Jonathon Font was injured in a crash that occurred just after 10 p.m. on County Road 15, just north of State Route 309.
Troopers say Font was attempting to jump-start a vehicle that was disabled in the northbound lane of County Road 15. While Font was standing between the disabled vehicle and the vehicle providing the jump, another car driven by 61-year-old Neil Hauenstein of Bluffton struck the disabled vehicle.
The impact disabled all three vehicles involved. Font was seriously injured and transported to Mercy Health–St. Rita’s Medical Center. Hauenstein and a woman and juvenile in the disabled vehicle were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.

Libery Township – The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on December 18, 2025, at approximately 10:15 P.M. The crash occurred on County Road 15 north of State Route 309 in Hardin County.
Unit #1, a 2005 Toyota Camry, was disabled in the northbound lane of County Road 15. Brittany Font, age 42, of Vaughsville, Ohio was in Unit #2, a 2010 Dodge Caravan, parked in front of Unit #1 attempting to jump start Unit #1. Jonathan Font, age 46, of Vaughsville, Ohio was between the vehicles attempting to hook up jumper cables. Neil Hauenstein, age 61, of Bluffon, Ohio was in Unit #3 that was northbound on County Road 15.
Unit #3 struck Unit #1 in the rear-end. Unit #1 then struck Mr. Font and Unit #3. Mr. Font sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center by Ada-Liberty Township EMS. All three vehicles were disabled on County Road 15. Unit #2 had 2 juvenile passengers in the vehicle. No other parties sustained injuries in the crash and they were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Patrol was assisted on scene by Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department, Ada-Liberty EMS, Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District, Minich Truck Repair and Big Daddy’s Towing.
The roadway was back open by 12:50 AM.
The crash remains under investigation. No impairment was suspected in the crash
