Rite Aid has announced that more stores will be permanently closing across Ohio including one locally. According to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the Rite Aid location at 1502 Executive Drive in St. Marys was included on that closure list with the store already putting up signs saying that everything must go.

The winter storm coupled with last-minute holiday shopping meant that stores saw an increase in customers, who want to ensure that they have enough food and more if they have to stay inside during the storm -- and also to ensure that they have food for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Local retail workers say that the rush kept continuing throughout the day.

Donations were collected at the stores from August 4th through September 14th, and those numbers totaled $9,750. A check presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 11th, at the Chief Supermarket Cable Road location in Lima. Store managers from the Cable Road and Northland Lima locations were on hand, along with West Ohio Food bank CEO Tommie Harner.

Detectives with the Lima police say the man arrested in the incident is 37-year-old Shane Davis of Lima. A large law enforcement presence responded to the store, just after 4 p.m. last Thursday following reports of a man with a gun inside. Police say he was carrying what has now been identified as a BB gun that he had obtained in the store. Davis remains in custody, facing three counts of aggravated menacing at this time. Police say mental health issues are a factor in the case.

According to a press release from the Lima Police Department, officers were called out around 5 p.m. to the west side Walmart for a call that a man had a gun inside the store. The man was reportedly pointing the gun at people. Officers arrived on the scene as employees and customers began evacuating from the store. The patrol officers found the subject shortly after entering the Walmart. He backed into a corner and refused to come out.
