The rush for supplies and food was apparent throughout grocery stores in our area.

The winter storm coupled with last-minute holiday shopping meant that stores saw an increase in customers, who want to ensure that they have enough food and more if they have to stay inside during the storm -- and also to ensure that they have food for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Local retail workers say that the rush kept continuing throughout the day.

"We normally get our rushes but then like you know we get the big big ones. We have to open up every lane, people coming in, carts full, it's very stressful for all of us. I have had a lot of people coming in, you know, stocking up on things and preparing of the big winter again," said Juliana Booher, grocery store worker.

The grocery shopping rush is expected to continue throughout the evening.
